World Usability Day: Designing for the Future we want

World Usability Day is the annual global event for exploring and promoting how interaction design improves the human condition. We’re hosting a local event that night, focused on this year’s theme of “designing for the future we want.”

Come join us for a hands-on workshop where, in small groups, we’ll explore themes around our practices as designers, the organizations that we work with & for, and the solutions that we create. We’ll brainstorm tangible actions we can take in support of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, set by the United Nations (UN). And perhaps we can kick-start one or more meaningful initiatives as a result!

Susan Wolfe Photo

UX Consultant, Mentor and Educator

In her 30+ years in the field, there’s probably no user experience design challenge that Susan Wolfe hasn’t seen. In both San Francisco and Sydney, Susan has practiced UX design, run consultancies (including her most recent venture, OEStrategy), mentored project teams around the globe, introduced UX design practices and cultures into organizations, and trained the next generation of practitioners. In years past, she established and managed in-house UX teams within software, hardware, and services companies in the Silicon Valley. Over time, she has become increasingly focused on using UX design for social good.

Susan has worked across a wide range of industries and platforms, working with start-ups to long-established companies, with small budgets to large, ensuring that their products and services are not merely usable, but also useful, desirable, engaging, valuable, findable, accessible, and credible, too. The secret of her success comes from not merely considering the principles of design, but from taking a holistic service design perspective and by applying the most appropriate user-centered design thinking techniques to identify the issues and quickly innovate to create the optimal experience.

Susan teaches General Assembly’s UX Design Immersive course and consults through her boutique agency, OE Strategy.

In recognition of her exemplary service in the classroom, Susan has been selected as a member of General Assembly’s Distinguished Faculty program. Susan serves as a member of GA’s Product Advisory Board for our Design courses.
