Event Details
User Vision have run a WUD event every year since 2005, consistently receiving a high number of attendees and culminating in a record attendance of nearly 100 visitors in 2010. Participants come from a range of businesses across the Scottish central belt region, both in the public and the private sector.
World Usability Day at User Vision is hosted at User Vision’s facility in the centre of Scotland’s capital city. Each year we host a wide variety of activities to entertain and inform visitors including interactive demonstrations, live testing and various workshops.
At each event we aim to highlight and demonstrate the types of usability issues we all face on a daily basis, as well as educating and stimulating our visitors into thinking about the user experience of all of their products and services.
Over the last few years we have also included a very well-received accessibility event, with guests from the local disabled community attending to offer insights into some of the challenges they face when interacting with technology. They also often demonstrate some of the innovative and ingenious solutions that they use to overcome such obstacles.
To tie in with this year’s theme of ‘Education: Designing for Social Change’, we will be looking at both the role of usability in education and the role of education in encouraging usable design. We will be organizing a number of activities that look at the usability in education including prototyping and teaching aids as well as closer look at social media and education.
One activity of note that we will aim to include this year is a connection to our new offices in Dubai, where we aim to look at Education and Cultural Differences between these locations.
Our full inventory of events for WUD 2011 will be updated shortly.
