Tucson World Usability Day at IBM on November 12th will include a variety of hands-on activities, highlighting both the successes and challenges of usability in hardware, software, and everyday items.
– Interactive 3-D Virtual World - Explore the IBM User Technology Island in Second Life and learn about the innovative uses and collaborative tools available
– Paper prototyping - A fun, prototyping exercise that uses a stovetop as an example of designing for natural mapping and cultural standards.
– Lego Workshop – This is an out-of-the-box exercise that emphasizes the importance of creating clear, concise instructions, and packaging products in a logical way.
– Fun with cell phones – Run through typical scenarios using several models of cell phones and evaluate them for ease-of-use.
– There will also be a collection of IBM storage prototypes on display.
The highlight of the interactive event is a middle-school class that will participate as part of a field trip. Members of the local community and fellow colleagues are welcome. Call Lenore Mackey at 520-799-4854 for more info.
