Event Details
Last year we had a wonderful WUD event here in Switzerland. For the first time Swiss CHI and Swiss UPA members were jointly attending an event with members of the Swiss parliament. The event was accompanied by a series of articles about usability and user centred design in a major Swiss journal.
This year - instead of talking to each other or some other dedicated elite group about how good we are as usability people when improving user interfaces or the overall user experience - we definitely want to focus our resources on the question, why people in general still tend to accept technology which is too hard to use.
In line with the World-Usability-Day Charter which is avaible in German on the Swiss UPA website and in line with the general aim of the WUD2006 we hence decided here in Zurich to go out on the streets and talk to the people. We plan to run attitude surveys in various public areas. In doing this we aim to understand and we aim to raise more awarness that "technology should enhance our lives, not add to our stress or cause danger through poor design or poor quality".
