This event is a collaborative effort between the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) student chapters, and the Usability Research Laboratory (URL) at Texas Tech University. We will begin with an open house at the Usability Research Laboratory (URL) at Texas Tech University. This will be followed by a series of mini lectures provided by faculty members from the Departments of Computer Science, English, Industrial Engineering, and Psychology. The URL is located in Department of English and hosted by the Technical Communication and Rhetoric program. The open house will begin at 3:30PM CST.After the open house, the following mini lectures will be presented: 

  1. Dr. Keith Jones, Department of Psychology (HFES) – Human-Computer Interaction.
  2. Dr. Brian Still, Department of English (URL) – Usability and user-centered issues in web design.
  3. Dr. Per Andersen, Department of Computer Science (ACM) - Usability issues in computer science.
  4. Dr. James Smith, Department of Industrial Engineering (HFES) - Usability in ergonomic design.
