Have you ever got frustated with a product that was hard to use or a website where you couldn't find what you wanted. Have you found yourself wading through too many menus on an automated telephone answering service?
Why do companies find it so difficult to make their devices and systems easy to use? This event, to be held at Nottingham University on the 14 November, will introduce you to the topic of 'usability' and show how some basic usability principles can be applied successfully to many different applications.
Introduced by Sarah Sharples of the Institute for Occupational Ergonomics, our four speakers include: Claire Williams, the Honorary General Secretary of the Ergonomics Society; Dave Travis, a leading web consultant from Userfocus; Dave Roberts from IBM and Steve Benford, Professor in Computer Science at Nottingham University.
The event will run from 1.30 - 5 pm and will be held in lecture room A25, Business School South Building, Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham, Wollaton Road, Nottingham, NG8 1BB. See www.ergonomics.org.uk for more details.
The session has been organised by the Ergonomics Society, together with the local Usability Professionals' Association, the Ergonomics Safety & Research Institute and the University of Nottingham.
