Event Details
A group of VanUE (Vancouver User Experience Group) volunteers have spontaneously organized themselves to apply their professional expertise as user experience practitioners to improve the quality of human life (the fundamental goal of usability) within the capacity and constraints of our environmental, social, and economic systems.
These volunteers are working on an event with the Pine Street Community Garden in a 16 hour “design slam.” A team of UX folks are immersing themselves in the community garden experience and applying a variety of UX techniques to identify and prioritize problem areas and offer working solutions to help the Community Garden do more of what they do so well.
If this event is a success the group hopes they have taken a first step in establishing a recurring venue and model for more volunteer UX work that more VanUE members can participate in. The ideal outcome would be a sort of “UX Practitioners Without Borders”!
