UPA members join New Zealand Web Guidelines Group

On January 2006, all Public Service departments, the New Zealand Police, the New Zealand Defence Force, the Parliamentary Counsel Office, and the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service must have websites that comply with the New Zealand Government Web Guidelines.

These guidelines are designed to make information and services as accessible as possible to the widest range of New Zealanders using the Internet. It is also of equal importance to make the website as usable as possible. This ensures that people who use the site can achieve their goals as easily and effectively.

The New Zealand UPA Chapter was invited to join a governmental advisory group on web standards aimed at improving the usability of e-government services and web sites.

UPA Members Hayden Vink, Zef Fugaz, Michael Andrews, Kirsten Thomson and Lynsey Blacklock joined an advisory group for the New Zealand State Services Commission. The group is charged with reviewing the Web Guidelines to ensure that they will meet their goals. Their work includes:
