Most products are used in conjunction with other products; this affects overall usability. For example, a person in an office may be sitting in a chair working at a desk with a lamp, keyboard, and computer monitor. As usability specialists we may be asked to focus on the relationship between the user and a single product. Too often we forget that users live in a world full of products, and that those products relate to each other in complex ways. We can think of this environment as a "product ecosystem" because it resembles natural ecosystems in some interesting ways. This session will discuss usability from the perspective of product ecosystems.
