November 11, 2010 - Get Involved!
World Usability Day (WUD) was founded to ensure the services and products important to life are easier to access and simpler to use. Our focus this year is sustainability. The fifth annual World Usability Day is off to an exciting start. The Usability Professionals’ Association (UPA) is coordinating more than 36 hours of activities in over 40 countries around the world on November 11, 2010. Your involvement is integral to the success of this global initiative.
How your efforts with World Usability Day made an impact in 2009:
- Over 146 events in a record 44 countries
- 40,000 people at events worldwide
- Thousands of online participants
- Extensive worldwide media coverage
As part of our focus on Communication in 2010 World Usability Day will serve as an impetus to creating greater awareness for designs, products and services that improve and facilitate communications around the world. This year's events and forums will focus on how products and services impact communications. Programs will examine all products and services used in the communication process including: cellular phones, mobile devices, social media, email, video, and perhaps other exciting technologies that may not have hit the mainstream!
Communication is key. People need to connect with each other. We have more means than ever to communicate: phones, Internet, messaging and the printed medium. Technology that facilitates communication between people must be intuitive to use. It should have instructions that are easy to understand, and knobs, dials and buttons that do not require constant tuning.
Today we have increasing options to communicate with one another. The race to create the next popular communication device changes daily. What will be next when we move beyond cell phones, internet, email and social media? How will we communicate? Why do we still thirst for face-to-face human interaction? Tell us why and organize your event today!
