Directions for Streaming Your Event Live
This year, for the first time, you will be able to stream your event live and share it with everyone around the world, for free. It's easy but we will need to get you set up. We hope to have live broadcasts throughout World Usability Day. We need to know if you are doing this so we can pull the feed through our system and your event can be viewed on our site. We have a complete listing of all events streamed on the home page running throughout the day.
Getting Started - Streaming Video
World Usability Day is partnering with Ustream.tv <http://Ustream.tv> to provide live streaming video from World Usability Day events.
Ustream.tv quickly and easily allows anyone with a camera to broadcast to the world. All you need to stream is a computer, internet connection, a microphone and a camera. Ustream.tv's software handles the camera connection and streaming. Your event site should have an upstream connection of 1Mbps or greater to ensure high quality video. You can also record the video stream to save it for later broadcast using Ustream.tv
If you are interested in stream your event we recommend the following steps:
- Test out the Ustream.tv software and website with the video camera you will be using for the event.
- Verify that your site has enough bandwidth ( 1Mbps or higher) to support good quality
- Let Caryn Saitz know that you will be streaming the event so we can show your event on the World Usability Day site. Email caryn@worldusabilityday.org asap with the timing of your streaming.
For more details on how to setup and start streaming video visit the Ustream.tv help center at:

Laptops to Take the Global Challenge At Your Event
World Usability Day and the Usability Professionals' Association will launch the Global Transport Challenge on November 13th. It's an easy way for you to understand how you use transportation everyday and the impact it has on our environment. We would like event attendees, colleagues, friends and family to submit their information, so we encourage you to have some laptops set up where anyone can Take the Global Challenge. It can be accessed from the World Usability Day Website - www.worldusabilityday.org. If you are in a public venue, that's terrific and we encourage everyone to participate.
You will be able to:
·MEASURE your everyday transportation usage
·MONITOR your personal carbon travel footprint and compare yourself to others around the world
·MINIMIZE your energy usage through alternative transportation choices, carbon offsets, and simple travel changes thereby maximizing the impact on our world.
