World Usability Day
Scioto Ridge Elementary School
Powell, Ohio
The day marks two important events at Scioto Ridge Elementary School in Powell, Ohio. (1) November 8, 2007 is Scioto Ridge s Cultural Diversity Day, an important part of the curriculum there and (2) World Usability Day.
The combination of these events inspired a presentation titled, Culturally Customized Web Sites for Children. Scioto Ridge fourth and fifth graders will participate in this presentation led by Bob Hale a Senior Usability Specialist from Resource Interactive in Columbus, Ohio.
This student-oriented presentation will address how global brands address cultural adaptation of web sites through symbolism, language, color, sound, and images. Example web sites include global brands like Lego, Disney, Neopets, and Hello Kitty.
Bob Hale will also share ideas on how students can prepare for a culturally customized career in usability and web design. Bob will share experiences from his educational background including psychology, interaction design and human factors engineering.
This is a student-only presentation. A limited number of "tickets" will be made available to Scioto Ridge parents and VIP's.
