System Concepts, supported by the Department for Transport and the Ergonomics Society, is hosting an Open House followed by an Evening Seminar to celebrate World Usability Day 2008. Open House Accessibility Testingfrom 1.00 - 5.00 pmUsing new and existing Department for Transport websites, we will demonstrate how accessibility testing ensures that users of all abilities can easily find the information they need.

• Try out some assistive technologies yourself
• Participate in an accessibility test
• Watch an accessibility test live
• See how previous test results have influenced the website design

Navigating the future with Geographic Information SystemsDoors open 5.30pm, presentations start at 6.00pm Our evening seminar, chaired by System Concepts’ MD Tom Stewart, will feature:

• Good transport decisions - better mobility - it's a lifestyle thing! Nick Illsley, Managing Director of Transport Direct will look at how the focus of Transport Direct is changing from transport to location and the opportunities that it bring to users, businesses, operators and administrators.
• From Mapping to Innovation - James Brayshaw, Sales and Marketing Director of Ordnance Survey will look at how the development of quality location data and standards is driving innovation.
• Dr John Gill, Chief Scientist of the Royal National Institute for the Blind, will share some of his work on the needs of disabled people when using GIS and location-based services.
